The Referral Process

Mid Michigan Veterinary Surgical Referral Center is a referral-only surgical hospital. This means that your normal veterinarian must examine your pet prior to being seen by our doctors. Xrays and/or bloodwork may be needed to diagnose your pet's problem. This is typically done with your normal veterinarian. If the treatment is surgery, and if your veterinarian is unable to perform the procedure, your pet may be referred to MMVSRC for the surgical repair.

Your referring veterinarian can call the referral center to make the appointment with our doctors or fax the needed information using the New Client Referral Form found here.

After surgery is complete, your normal veterinarian will usually provide any needed follow-up. Occasionally, depending on the surgery performed, our doctors will need to see your pet for a follow-up visit.
